Remap Project: Utensil holding aid for young lady with Brachydactyly
Remap (Rehabilitation Engineering Mobility Advisory Panel) is a charity that I volunteer for. They are a national charity working through local groups of skilled volunteers to help people with disabilities achieve independence and a better quality of life.
These are pictures of a prototype I made for a client with Brachydactyly required a cutlery holding aid for her right hand to assist her in using knifes and other kitchen utensils. She also wished to use the device to aid her in using hair brushes as well as to help her to grip bed sheets and large bowls.
The client is currently testing out the device, adjustments will be made to the product if required.
Below are photographs of the device being tested on me.
The front straps allow objects such as hair bushes and knives to be used.
(image photoshopped to demonstrate how it appears on the user, photographs of the actual client using the product will hopefully be provided soon)
Velcro straps for easy fastening
clamps can be attached to enable the client to grip onto sheets and bowls
